Angel

Last night my friend invited me to a free screening of “Iron Jawed Angels”, a HBO film. This screening was for the New York Women in Film and Television.

Now that I don’t have cable or even a TV, this was a treat to see! The film is about Alice Paul, a suffragist who fearlessly paved the way for the 19th amendment that granted women the right to vote.

Before the screening, there was a reception where I drank half a glass of red wine and planned to do some schmoozing with women in film. Ironically, the only person I chatted with was an older man who asked me what’s the best way to spread hummus on a pita without using fingers or cutlery. I suggested using another pita slice to do the spreading!

I’m Not In Love

“I’m not in love, so don’t forget it. It’s just a

silly phase I’m going through…” Do you remember that tune by 10cc?!

This week, there has been a glut of news and magazine articles about love, sex, relationships, etc. because of Valentine’s Day. In my opinion, it’s lazy and irresponsible to dump the love stuff on us in the shortest month of the year. Love happens every minute you breathe. I am hopping on my soapbox to say that’s OK to not be in a relationship, but you don’t have label yourself “quirkyalone” or drown your sorrows in chocolate or ice cream. Get out and notice love. Today, I heard a bird chirping and I smiled because I know that spring is coming soon!

Do You Hear What I Hear?

Chocolate Factory

This week is jammed pack with Fashion Week, the Westminster Dog Show and Valentine’s Day. I don’t know about you guys, but I am very confused. I don’t know whether to starve myself, bury a bone or eat chocolate!

I think I will eat chocolate! Some of the best chocolate is being made in D.U.M.B.O. at Jacques Torres Chocolate at 66 Water Street. There’s a cute little shoppe and you can always shop online if you desire. Sweet!

Where Is the Love?

If you’re out and about, looking for love or just trying warm up with a soy latte at Starbucks, then you may encounter a lame pick-up line. Laugh! Don’t get angry! It’s a compliment! Meanwhile, if you are need a cute line to deliver at the next speed dating event; then click on the link, linesthataregood.com.

Sample lines like this:

“I’m not drunk, I’m just intoxicated by you.”

“I just had to come talk with you. Sweetness is my weakness.”

“You make me melt like hot fudge on a sundae.”
